There's always something new happening in Matlock! Just a little update to promote some local events and businesses which you might not have discovered yet...
A New Gym has opened in Matlock! PARKSIDE FITNESS has now opened... They aim to offer the best rates in the area, sunbeds, protein, creatine, fat burners and what ever supplements you need to enhance your training sessions. It's very reasonably priced and a relaxed, fun atmosphere so there's no excuse not to keep those New Years Resolutions! It's located just behind Monk Bar (off Dale Road).

On 16th January there is a WW1 event at the Imperial Rooms... Matlock Town Council would love you to drop into the Imperial Rooms, any time between 4 and 7pm to talk to them about what you think Matlock should be doing to commemorate the outbreak of WW1. If you can't make it for a cup of tea and a chat, do drop your ideas in to them in writing via projects@matlock.gov.uk . They're looking forward to hearing from you and would love some creative input or to hear any ideas, no matter how small, on how to commemorate the centenary.
Also, Matlock Farmers Market can be found at Hall Leys Park on 18th January (next weekend) - local produce and traders will be selling some winter warmers - support the local businesses!

FINALLY! The plans to redevelop Bakewell Road, Matlock have hit a crucial stage with the planned ideas now being put forward to the public to help decide the best course of action. The full story can be found here. The Committee will be meeting on 13th January (Monday) to discuss two possible plans for redevelopment. The plans come after the vast redevelopment of Dale Road, A6, Peak Rail and the addition of Sainsbury's in 2007.
I hope that keeps you in the loop with Derbyshire life... Maybe I should offer my services as a columnist?
