Berat

Berat, a charming city nestled in the heart of Albania, is a place where history and beauty converge. Known as the "City of a Thousand Windows," Berat is renowned for its stunning Ottoman-era architecture and its well-preserved medieval fortress.

As you wander through the narrow cobblestone streets of Berat, you'll be transported back in time. The city's architecture reflects its rich cultural heritage, with houses featuring unique white facades and wooden balconies that overlook the city. These houses, known as "kullas," were once the homes of prominent families and are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

At the heart of Berat lies the imposing Berat Castle, perched on a hilltop overlooking the city. This fortress, dating back to the 4th century BC, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Inside the castle walls, you'll find a treasure trove of historical sites, including the Red Mosque, the Church of St. Mary of Blachernae, and the Onufri Museum, which houses a remarkable collection of religious icons.
